Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when I submit the appointment request form?

The form above asks some basic questions about the type of problem you need help with. A member of our staff will review your answers and connect you with a navigator who can help. The navigator will reach out using the contact information you shared in the form.

Where should I go if I need help with another legal issue?

For help with utilities, predatory loans, and non-criminal legal issues impacting Virginians 60 or older, call Virginia Poverty Law Center’s helplines for assistance. Virginians who are eligible and have a civil legal issue may be able to get help from their local legal aid office. You can find your local legal aid office by calling 1-866-534-5243.

What do navigators do?

Navigators are a free, unbiased source of information about health coverage. A navigator can help you check your eligibility for different types of health coverage and complete an application. They can also answer questions about your coverage and help you use your coverage to access health care. If you are having issues with your health insurance plan or lose health coverage, a navigator can review your options with you.

Where can I get answers about my Marketplace coverage?

To review what is included in your Marketplace plan, see your insurer’s summary of benefits. You can download the summary online or request a paper copy in the mail. If you have specific questions about your coverage and costs, the summary of benefits should also tell you where to find the complete terms of your policy. You can contact a navigator or call the number on the back of your insurance card with questions about your plan.
