Privacy Notice Statement

This notice explains how Enroll Virginia may collect, use and share your personal information. Please read this carefully.

We must collect certain information about you, called Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”), in order to help you complete your application for health insurance. We only use PII to the extent necessary to assist you with the application and enrollment process.

Some examples of PII required for health coverage applications and enrollment include your name, address, zip code and county of residence, birthdate, telephone, social security number, household income, number of household members, marital status, race/ethnicity, Healthcare.gov username and password, CommonHelp Application username and password, and/or any information necessary to assist you with your request for assistance with your healthcare coverage.

Why did you receive this notice?

We are required to give you this notice by applicable law and our agreement with the Virginia Health Benefit Exchange. We respect your personal information and want you to fully understand how we may use and share your information.

Do I have to provide my Personally Identifiable Information?

No. Your decision to provide your personal information is voluntary. We are required to obtain your written authorization prior to collecting, creating, disclosing, accessing, maintaining, storing or using your PII. Your authorization may be revoked by you or your legal or authorized representative at any time. Neither you, nor your legal or authorized representative, are required to provide more information than you choose to provide.

How will you use my information?

We will use only the information that we need to help you obtain health insurance.

Enroll Virginia is authorized by law to provide several services, including:

  • Providing information about the full range of health and dental coverage options
  • Assisting you with applications for health coverage and financial assistance
  • Answering questions about your eligibility for financial assistance
  • Helping with filing appeals of eligibility determinations
  • Correcting errors in your application for health coverage

Will my information be shared with anyone?

We may only share your personal information as described in this notice. We may share your information with certain Federal or State agencies, the health insurance carrier that you select, or other navigators or assisters that help us provide services to you. We will only share your information for the purpose of assisting you with applying for health insurance and insurance affordability programs. We do not share your personal information with anyone else without your consent. You may request a record of the disclosures of your information from Enroll Virginia by contacting us at deepak@vplc.org.

Can I indicate my preference for receiving communications from Enroll Virginia?

Yes. And, if you want to opt-out of receiving certain communications from us, please contact us at deepak@vplc.org.

Will you keep my information safe?

Yes. We are required by law to keep your information safe. Virginia’s Insurance Marketplace has developed privacy and security policies that we must follow. These policies include standards for ensuring the security of hard-copy and electronic information, and prohibitions on the use and disclosure of your information. For your protection, please do not send e-mails to us that contain your PII, because we cannot guarantee the security of these e-mails before they reach us. Keeping information secure and using it in a responsible manner is a top priority.

Under what legal authority are you permitted to collect my PII?

Both Federal and State laws permit us to collect PII for the reasons referenced above. State regulations include 14VAC7-10-10 et seq. of the Virginia Administrative Code. Federal laws and regulations include Section 1411(g) of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and 45 C.F.R. §155.260.

How will you inform me about changes to this Privacy Notice?

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time without prior notice. Revised versions will be posted at www.enrollva.org and will show an updated effective date.
